Randomized Control Trial of Post-Operative Return to Sexual Activity

The goal of pelvic reconstructive surgery is to relieve symptoms and improve quality-of-life considerations, including sexual function. Sexual experiences after surgery can be associated with pain, discomfort, and apprehension. Little is known about how to counsel patients about their first encounter post-surgical healing. With funding from the SHE+ Foundation in 2021, this research group developed a standardized counseling tool for post pelvic reconstructive surgery.

A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL OF VULVAR FRACTIONATED CO2 LASER THERAPY WITH AND WITHOUT CONCOMITANT TOPICAL CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE 0.05% OINTMENT FOR THE TREATMENT OF VULVAR LICHEN SCLEROSUS.

Lichen Sclerosus (LS) is a chronic skin condition that can affect many areas of the body, including the vulvar region. The dermatological illness leads to pain, discomfort, sexual dysfunction, and considerable emotional and personal distress. This chronic and often progressive illness has marked effects on a woman’s overall sexual health, self- esteem, and quality of life. With support from SHE+ in 2021, the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons conducted a gold standard randomized trial to help elucidate the superior treatment paradigm- medication and laser (combined treatment) or laser and placebo (CO2 laser alone.)
